Boothathankettu
Boothathankettu is a beautiful dam situated outside the village of Pindimana near Kothamangalam. It is a popular tourist destination. You can explore the spellbinding views of rocks, valleys, forests, migratory birds, and towering hills. We will take you for a trek for more sightseeing. Any people of any age can enjoy the trek. On the way, you can see a massive tree with a hollow space to accommodate one person in it and a cave believed to be used by the Bhootas. The village folk has a belief that the Bhootas made a fruitless effort to build a dam and they also say that remnants of the rocks that Bhoothas used can be seen in the river. That's how the dam got this name - Boothathankettu. After enjoying the day at Bhoithathankettu, we will drive you back to Kochi by evening.
Ernakulam to Boothathankettu
Pickup from Ernakulam drive to BHOOTHATHANKETTU is a dam and also a tourist spot in Kerala. It is situated outside the village of PINDIMANA, near to KOTHAMANGALAM The original natural dam has been supplemented by a modern dam impounding the BHOOTHATHANKETTU Reservoir (THATTEKAD Reservoir). There is a safe natural walk trail through the thick ever green riparian forest from the vicinity of the dam site leads to the picturesque old BHOOTHATHANKETTU.
This locale is believed to be the site where the bhootas (monsters in Malayalam: Bhootham) made futile efforts to build a dam. Remnants of huge rocks, believed to be used for the dam construction can be seen scattered across the river. The sight of the river flowing amidst the rocks is a magnificent scene. A huge tree with a large enough hollow space within, to shelter a person is a majestic visual during the short trek. A cave believed to be used by Bhootas , amidst the forest ,where one can hardly stand , a scary yet adventure invoking exploration entertainment.
